Job Title: Director of Operations Reports To: Chamber Board/Mayor of Harrisburg Hours: Up to 35 Hours per Week Wages: $14-18 per hour based on experience Position Overview This position is to provide support and expertise to the Harrisburg Area Chamber of Commerce Board, Harrisburg Economic Development Commission and the Mayor of Harrisburg. Focus items include efforts to continue City growth, business development and funding opportunities. This involves understanding needs throughout the City by maintaining close relationships with key personnel, maintaining current knowledge of funding opportunities that are effective in other communities, and applying specialized knowledge and expertise to help guide the process. The Director of Operations must be knowledgeable in all activities of the Chamber and its members and potential members. Essential Functions Provide support for local efforts to recruit new business/industry prospects and guide prospects in identifying sites and/or buildings throughout the City. This may include site development, business retention and expansion efforts and deal structuring support; Coordinate with local and state partners to identify incentive packages and deal structures that may encourage businesses to locate/remain in the City of Harrisburg. Work directly with the Mayor of Harrisburg to implement projects that are in line with City goals and objectives to recruit funding, housing, business and retail development. Research, seek out and secure funding opportunities for the City of Harrisburg; Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department, and all entities deemed so by the Mayor. Coordinate, maintain and track all Harrisburg Economic Development Committee Renovation Grant applications, meeting notes, award/denial letters, receipts, forms and reimbursement information. Attend the Mid-South Basic Economic Development Course through the Institute of Economic Development at University of Arkansas Little Rock. Plan, coordinate and execute all Chamber of Commerce special events including but not limited to mail-outs, media notifications, verification of venue, food vendors, speakers, decor, tickets, coordination of set up and cleanup Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all community stakeholders, elected officials, business leaders, business leaders and community members. Coordinate timely distribution of invitations, meeting reminders, handouts, and other meeting materials to all stakeholders; Maintain the Chamber of Commerce website and all applicable social media Accounts; Maintain Festival on the Ridge social media accounts. Ensure that all relevant resource materials are made available electronically in a timely fashion; Promote the Harrisburg community in a positive/professional manner. Plan, coordinate and execute Harrisburg Annual Christmas Parade. Responsibilities for this include but are not limited to marketing, planning, arranging and organizing all floats and parade participants, organizing a committee to judge floats and participants, and cleanup after the event. Serve as ex-officio member of the Festival on the Ridge Committee and oversee communication between all parties involved to ensure success of the annual festival. Prepare Board Member packets and attend all Chamber Board meetings to take minutes and provide support and recommendations; Attend all local Economic Development related meetings and conventions; Attend all relevant economic development area meetings. Maintain Chamber member database; create invoices/statements; collect membership dues; make recommendations for member drop; recruit new members/businesses. Manage Chamber accounting and financial records utilizing QuickBooks Pro for Chamber of Commerce; monthly/quarterly/yearly profit and loss reports; monthly/yearly IRS and AR State Finance and Administration filings Maintain monthly bank statements and monthly reconciliation reports Requirements Enthusiastic; self-directed; community-focused Creative Web design; Web page marketing skills Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written Social Media Marketing Campaign Experience Strong computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Pro Minimum Education: HS Diploma or equivalent Send Resumes to prowton@edwardsfg.com
