Mission: The mission of Alexandra House is to empower victims of domestic and sexual violence, and inspire social change, through education, support, and advocacy.

Vision: Alexandra House envisions a world where violence against women and children is unacceptable.


Who we Serve: victim/survivors of domestic, sexual, and relationship violence and abuse in later life.

Geographic areas served: Alexandra House serves the seven-county metro areaparticularly Anoka, Hennepin, and Ramsey countiesthough clients also come from surrounding counties, Alexandra House, Increaser Minnesota, or even other states in their journeys to find services.

Programs/Services:

Hospital-based advocacy:
A partnership of Unity and Mercy Hospitals, Allina Clinics, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program, and Alexandra House that provides in-person follow-up, safety planning and support (24/7) to patients who are identified as victims of domestic or sexual violence.

Follow Up Program / Housing Subsidies
This program aims to assist families with long-term safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. Employment support and training, transportation, financial assistance, housing assistance, and rental subsidies, system navigation, and everyday problem solving is only a fraction of the support our in-home advocates provide.

Aging Services Program
Alexandra House offers client-centered advocacy services and in-home case management services to elder victims of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. Services include legal assistance, basic needs assistance, arranging transportation to and from appointments, identifying and securing housing, offering emotional support, and connecting clients with other government and community programs for additional services.

24-hour Emergency Shelter / 24-hour Help Line:
Crisis intervention, safety planning, support groups, transportation to safety and appointments, child care, assistance in obtaining needed medical, housing, legal, financial and other community assistance, information and referral.

Civil Legal Advocacy:
Assistance in filing protective orders, accompaniment to hearings, free legal representation and advice, and information regarding civil legal options.

Criminal Justice Intervention/Lethality Assessment Program:
Advocacy following a domestic assault (24-hours/day) and throughout court proceedings to include safety planning, information regarding court process, accompaniment to hearings, and liaisoning with courts/prosecutors on victims behalf.

Support Groups:
Weekly/monthly groups focused on recovery, domestic and sexual violence, womens issues, self-esteem, restorative parenting, concerned persons, and others.

Youth Services:
Individual advocacy and support groups offered in 15 high schools/alternative programs in six school districts; healthy relationship classroom education; summer youth and family outreach; and support/education groups are on-site at Lino Lakes Juvenile Shelter Program.

Financial/Basic Needs Assistance:
Food shelf, personal care, and household items, prescription assistance, gas cards, cell phones, and more.

Community Education/ Professional Training:
Engaging the community in understanding, responding to, and preventing domestic and sexual violence through community education, professional training, and building awareness via the web, social media, blogging, press releases, articles, and more.
