About We Saw The Light
We Saw The Light is a nonprofit organization that supports families in Minnesota who lose their loved ones to suicide. Once we learn about someone who recently passed, we reach out to the family directly and let them know that we are here. We offer resources that other survivors have found to be useful and invite them to a private group on Facebook for peer support. Throughout the first year, there are many emotions, and oftentimes families find themselves feeling all alone as those around them go back to their lives.
However, we know that after losing a loved one to suicide, there is no life to go back to. That is why we feel it is important to send gifts to each of the family members every month for the first year. One reason we do this is that we want them to know that as life continues, there is always someone thinking about them. Another reason we do this is that together we have come up with items that survivors have found helpful or feel would have been helpful when they first were on that same journey.
