Winemaker Series: Matthiasson Wines

Join us for our upcoming Winemaker Series events featuring Matthiasson Winery's Jill Klein Matthiasson in support of City of Hope's Nourishing Hope Program.

City of Hope's food and beverage service, Nourishing Hope, sets us apart from other national healthcare providers by offering a unique culinary experience to our patients, guests, and staff. Recognizing the need for improvement in 2017, we aligned our food services with COH's overarching goal to conquer cancer and diabetes. This alignment involves integrating scientific discovery, clinical innovation, and heartfelt compassion. In response, we partnered with Clinical Nutrition to enhance our understanding of both physicians' nutritional requirements for their patients and the specific dietary preferences of those we serve. Our aim, quite simply, is to nourish and restore health.

The philosophy behind Nourishing Hope is to reinvent traditional dishes by using healthier, cleaner ingredients. Our commitment is to provide seasonal menus crafted from the highest quality ingredients, locally sourced from responsible growers and producers. We emphasize sustainability and organic produce, along with fresh, hormone-free meats and poultry, and wild-caught seafood, ensuring that every meal supports our sustainability values.
Our collaboration with COH’s doctors and researchers is crucial, especially in exploring how diet impacts health. A notable example is the work led by Debbie Thurmond, Ph.D., at the Arthur Riggs Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute, which investigates the links between diabetes, cancer, and the role of nutrition as a form of medicine.

At City of Hope, Nourishing Hope plays a vital role in supporting our patients throughout their journey with cancer and diabetes, ensuring that every meal contributes positively to their treatment and recovery.
