Benton County offers a variety of important services to the community such as providing elections, recording property documents, collecting property taxes, issuing marriage and dog licenses and many others. The County is administered by a three-person Board of Commissioners who are elected every four years and a County Administrator who is an employee of the County under the direction of the Commission.
The City of Corvallis was chartered in 1857 and serves as the County Seat for Benton County. The City is led by a 9-person volunteer Council who are elected every two-years, and an elected volunteer Mayor. The City Manageris responsible for the operations of the City.
