Featured Guest Speaker - Dan O'Brien
1996 Olympic Gold Medalist
Dan O’Brien is the 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist in the Decathlon.
Former World Record Holder, 3-time World Champion, 5 times US Champion and the world’s first reality television star.
In 1992 Reebok introduced Dan O’Brien and Dave Johnson, two relatively unknown track athletes and pitted them in a competition, to determine who would be the world’s greatest athlete. Reebok spent 25 million dollars on this campaign with the build-up to the 1992 US Olympic Trials.
The problem was, Dan did not qualify for the team and the Reebok campaign was dubbed one of the biggest flubs in Sports advertising history.
Dan now talks about that experience, how he picked himself up and set the world record that same year, won 2 more world championships and then the Olympic Gold Medal. Overcoming one of the most public failures in sports, and becoming a better person.
