Event Description

Presented by the College of Engineering and the Clean Water Technology Initiative

Across the globe, access to clean water is threatened by population growth, climate change, industrial and agricultural pollution, and other pressures. Join us for an exclusive film screening of the award-winning documentary How to Poison a Planet, followed by a panel discussion with field experts and stakeholders.

This groundbreaking film examines the use and spread of PFAS and other fluorinated compounds — human-made "forever chemicals" that never break down and now contaminate waterways, farmland, and communities worldwide, including the drinking water of 200 million Americans.

With behind-the-scenes access to the largest litigation involving drinking water in American history, How to Poison a Planet investigates how the use of a product as seemingly harmless as firefighting foam, has resulted in the contamination of communities all over the world. Spanning from the heart of New York City to a small First Nations community in Australia, the film exposes one of the most widespread environmental disasters in human history.

This film is not rated, but recommended for those ages 15+ due to mature content.
