About Us
Can you imagine - Michelle, three years of age is removedfrom her home due to safety issues. She is too young to
understand what is happening. She feels scared, confused,
and misses her family. She is placed in foster care as her
case comes before the courts.
During the court process, the Department of Human Services will
identify the legal basis for removing Michelle from her home; perhaps
neglect, threat of harm, or the presence/use of illegal drugs. Generally, the child’s parent(s) are represented in court by an attorney. Michelle would also be represented by an attorney and a case worker from the Department of Human Services.
However, WHO will be reviewing, assessing, evaluating, and advocating for Michelle’s best interests in light of the court hearings, family meetings, parent(s) progress, state/federal laws, state agency policies/protocol, and complex foster care system? WHO will be visiting Michelle on a regular basis to ensure that her safety, well-being, and permanency plan is addressed in a timely manner?
*CASA -the Court Appointed Special Advocate is WHO will be there for her. CASA will be present at all court hearings in order to report to the judge what is in Michelle’s best interest. Her CASA will track and monitor the complex processes and services to ensure Michelle case is expeditiously addressed with the goal of seeking a permanent, safe and nurturing home.
