ABOUT LEADERSHIP JENKS

The goal of Leadership Jenks is to identify, motivate and educate emerging leaders in our community. Leadership Jenks is a joint community leadership-building program organized by the Jenks Chamber of Commerce.

MISSION

Leadership Jenks aims to promote and enhance community leadership through an in-depth introduction to social, economic, business and policy issues in Jenks. Leadership Jenks provides a rich networking environment and access to community, county and state leaders.

Every Tuesday is Deep Cuts at Andolini’s. A rare beer paired with a special slice. All locations. You keep the glass (until we run out!). Starts at 5 p.m. every single Tuesday.

Bonus: we offer the pint night off-menu pizza only for the week it’s featured. Available to order by the slice during lunch and any time of day by the 20″ pie!

As our ancients learned, the sky is not just a thing of beauty–it’s the ruler for the position of our planet. Understanding how our planet is aligned with the distant stars allows anyone to use the sky as a compass, a calendar and a clock. Come learn how to use the sky yourself! The target audience for Compass, Calendar, and Clock is ages 8 and up.

This show is held at the Jenks Planetarium, Jenks High School, Dr. Kirby A. Lehman Center for the Study of Math and Science Center, 3rd Floor. Elevator available. Doors to the Planetarium open approximately 30 minutes prior to listed show time. Tickets will not be issued at time of purchase. You do not need to show proof of purchase. Your name will appear on a list at the door and checked off upon entry to the show. No food or drink is allowed in the Planetarium.

Set your alarms on Saturday, May 2nd to visit all the garage sales in Jenks! If you are having a sale, you may leave your garage sale location or address (or if your neighborhood is having a joint sale) in the “Discussion” section of our event page below OR you can add your garage sale to an online map! Visit https://yardsaletreasuremap.com and enter your address (optional: description of items and pictures) to be included in the map!

Citizens may use the web version or download the app to post sales or find sales in their area. Anyone who accesses Yard Sale Treasure Map website or the app will be able to view any posted sales. Having issues with entering your address into the virtual map? Please email city@jenksok.org for assistance. There is no permit required to host a garage sale during the CityWide Garage Sale weekend.

People all over the world live in many types of houses--from houseboats to mud huts. No matter where you live though, your house has stars! Based on the book, My House Has Stars introduces both houses and stars from places and cultures all over the planet. The target audience for My House Has Stars is ages 6 and up.

With the arrival of the flowers, the animals awaken both on Earth, and in the night sky; Leo the Lion, Corvus the Crow, Ursa the Bear. The Spring Sky will introduce you to those constellations, and many more, found in the springtime sky. Weather permitting, we will relocate to the roof-top observation deck. Please dress for the weather. The target audience for The Spring Sky is ages 6 and up.

The fact that 88% of the human population lives in the northern hemisphere. This should not overshadow the beautiful sky that is seen in the southern hemisphere. Not only do they see many of the constellations we do… but they see stars, constellations, and deep space objects that can never be seen from the north! Join us as we tour the southern hemisphere sky! The target audience age for The Sky We Don’t See is ages 6 and up.

Chris Russell, decorated Air Force combat veteran, career Intelligence Officer, and author of More Than the Mission: Leadership Lessons from My Career in Air Force Intelligence. With more than 20 years of global service, his leadership experience includes roles at U.S. Special Operations Command, the Pentagon, and command of the 22nd Intelligence Squadron at the National Security Agency, supporting major combat operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

A University of Oklahoma graduate and certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach, Chris now leads The Russell Group, where he translates battlefield leadership lessons into practical strategies that build high-performing, people-focused teams. He has also led leadership training for the Jenks Police Department and other organizations committed to strengthening their leadership culture.

We will be recognizing and celebrating our Leadership Jenks graduates as well!  Join us for lunch, meaningful connection, and leadership takeaways you can apply immediately in your business and organization. Advanced registration is encouraged. We look forward to seeing you at The Ranch!
