Economic growth doesn’t just happen — it’s cultivated through vision, collaboration, and smart investment. The third event in the 2026 GMBA Economic Forum Series brings together the region’s top economic development leaders and partners to discuss how Maricopa and Western Pinal County are positioning themselves for sustainable expansion, business attraction, and vibrant commercial growth.

From industrial recruitment and retail development to the policies that make investment possible, this forum connects business owners, investors, and community leaders with the people driving Arizona’s economic engine.

Confirmed Presenters Include:
Christian Price, Economic Development Director, City of Maricopa — on local initiatives and new business attraction
Joel Millman, Economic Development Manager, Pinal County — on county-wide strategies and industry partnerships
Robert Theobald, Senior Vice President, Arizona Commerce Authority — on state resources and competitive growth programs
Commissioner Leah Marquez Peterson, Arizona Corporation Commission — on energy policy, business licensing, and infrastructure readiness
Brady Murray, Maricopa Real Estate Company — on commercial and retail development trends and the process for business space in Maricopa

This dynamic discussion will explore how collaboration between city, county, and state entities — paired with local business engagement — creates the conditions for economic success. Attendees will gain practical insights on navigating development processes, identifying incentives, and preparing for the next wave of regional opportunity.

Key Takeaways:
Understand local, county, and state priorities for economic growth
Learn about available incentives and site-selection tools for new and expanding businesses
Explore commercial real estate trends and permitting processes in the Maricopa area
Build connections with leaders shaping Arizona’s economic future

Presented by the Greater Maricopa Business Alliance Government Affairs Committee
Building Business. Building Impact. Building Communities.

Let’s Turn Risk Into Resilience—And Build Maricopa’s Future Workforce

Maricopa is growing rapidly—but for many teens, that growth feels out of reach.
According to the Arizona Youth Survey:
  • Over 50% of local teens report feeling disconnected from their neighborhoods
  • Nearly 46% say they’ve been rewarded for antisocial behavior
  • 57.1% see little to no risk in drug use
The result? A generation at risk of disengagement—from school, from community, and from future opportunity.
At Be Awesome, we’re responding with purpose. Our “Make a Splash, Change the Current” campaign is designed to connect youth to their community, build life-ready skills, and prepare them for the workforce of tomorrow.
Here’s what we’re doing with the funds raised:
  • Paid teen internship opportunities focused on leadership, small business training, and event management
  • Workshops on career readiness, communication, wellness, and responsibility
  • Hands-on entrepreneurial experiences (planning community events, presenting at city meetings, and managing youth-led projects)
  • A weekend retreat to build resiliency, confidence, and collaboration
This isn’t just prevention—it’s early workforce development. And we’re doing it with intention, creativity, and incredible ROI.
We’ve already served over 300 students and families this year—and with your help, we can scale even further.
We’ve raised $5,100 toward our $25,000 goal. Help us keep momentum going.

Let’s grow Maricopa’s economy and its future leaders—one teen at a time.
Warmly,
Priscilla Behnke
