Organizations throughout Wisconsin are experiencing shifting workforce demographics, with Spanish-speaking employees playing an increasingly important role in day-to-day operations. As teams become more multilingual, communication gaps between supervisors and employees who do not share a first language can influence service quality, team cohesion, and employee retention.

Across industries—whether customer-facing, technical, healthcare, hospitality, logistics, or professional services—clarity and mutual understanding are essential. Language barriers and cultural differences can lead to inefficiencies, preventable errors, delays, and internal friction. Effective communication requires both job-relevant Spanish and the cultural competency that strengthens trust and improves interpretation.

WCEDA’s Spanish Communication & Cultural Competency Program delivers a fully customized solution shaped around each organization’s operational context. Participants receive practical, role-specific Spanish support along with cultural insights and coaching designed to elevate communication confidence. The program is adapted to your processes, responsibilities, and communication
expectations to ensure immediate applicability.

This investment enhances organizational performance by improving team coordination, elevating service delivery, reducing conflict, and strengthening retention—positioning your organization to thrive with an increasingly diverse workforce.

**This session is a private program for a WCEDA member. If you are interested in learning more about WCEDA's program, please contact Leslie Gostomski at leslie@walworthbusiness.com

This event reimagines the traditional career fair by focusing on student choice and career alignment. Students will select businesses, industries, and/or colleges connected to their interests and rotate through three interactive classroom sessions with those participants. The morning will conclude with a traditional career fair.

**Participating organizations should be prepared to present in a classroom setting and host a career fair booth with appropriate materials.

Please contact Michael Rick, Career and Technical Education Coordinator at ricmi01@wwusd.org to RSVP.

We’re collaborating with the Geneva Lake Conservancy to offer Walworth County students a combined work and educational experience.

We’re planning an immersive 2- to 3-hour visit where students can engage in meaningful environmental stewardship. The day will start with hands-on activities, like planting and removing invasive species. Students will also have time to enjoy a hike and snack before joining an educational session at the park’s pavilion.

During this session, we’ll have local environmental companies, such as Bartlett Tree Experts, alongside the Geneva Lake Conservancy, to discuss career pathways in environmental conservation and share insights on protecting our natural resources.

**MORE INFO COMING SOON.
