Mendocino National Forest invites the public to participate in upcoming National Trails Day events across the forest to celebrate trails and promote trail stewardship.
National Trails Day was established by the American Hiking Society in 1993 and occurs annually on the first Saturday in June. It brings together federal land managers, partners, and volunteers to celebrate trails and accomplish trail stewardship projects to ensure they are safe, well-maintained, easy-to-follow and accessible.
Snow Mountain Wilderness Waterfall Hike: Friday, June 5 10:30am-3:30pm at West Crockett Trailhead. On this guided hike to Middle Fork Falls, attendees will learn about the trail’s history and have an opportunity to help maintain wilderness trails and participate in a crosscut saw demonstration. The hike to the waterfall is 2.5 miles one way (5 total miles out and back). Attendees can drive directly to West Crockett (meet at 10:30am) or caravan with Forest Service staff. To caravan with staff, meet at 8:00am at the Supervisor’s Office in Willows.
