First Day Forest Bathing
12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Meet at Outlook Ridge trailhead. Enjoy a fresh start to 2025 by immersing in the wonder & healing nature offers through the practice of Forest Bathing/Shinrin-Yoku. Join Forest Therapy Guide Jane for this peaceful walk with prompts to quiet the mind, open the senses and connect closely with the beauty of land. We close with medicinal tea brewed from local plants. Bring sit pad, water, snacks & dress for the weather (snow boots, waterproof pants suggested) . Ages 14 & up. Canceled if below 30 degrees. Hike to remnants of a cabin built in the early 1900s by the Osborn family. Learn about homesteaders who called the land home on this 3.5 mile hike. Meet at Black Bear trailhead.
Bonfire Tour & BBQ
Sunday, January 26th 4-6 pm.Join us for a bonfire, tour, homemade chili (meat and vegetarian), hot drinks and sweets with the wolves! Enjoy an educational tour of our center, learn about wolves and other canids and their place in the ecosystem, and end with a signature group howl.
This is a guided adventure led by Debbie, Certified Interpretive Guide and Naturalist Instructor at Pikes Peak State College. In this workshop you will discover the history, science and art of observing nature and recording observations. Nature journaling helps us reflect and expand our perspectives of the natural world around us and our place within it. All materials will be provided for you; you are welcome to bring your own journal if you’d prefer. Come prepared for a short hike, sitting outdoors for a short period of time (some chairs will be available), and changing weather. Ages 16+.
