The Howard County Dementia Caregiver Support Group meets the first and third Friday of every month at 1:30pm at the Cresco Public Library Program Room (downstairs).

Cresco Public Library is handicap-accessible.

The Howard County Dementia Caregiver Support Group is available for people to build a support system with people who understand the challenges inherent in dementia care-giving. The Alzheimer's Association caregiver support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of people with dementia to develop a support system, exchange practical information on care-giving challenges and possible solutions, talk through issues and ways of coping, share feelings, needs and concerns, and learn about community resources.

This program is presented by the Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter. For more information, please contact their office at: 319-294-9699.

Experience entertainment, dancing, and delicious food at the annual Jazz Spotlight at Crestwood High School. Saturday, April 4th doors open at 6:00pm with dinner and music beginning at 6:30pm . Sunday, April 5th doors open at 12:30pm with dinner and music beginning at 1:00pm .
 
Menu choices are Rack of Pork, Chicken Cordon Bleu, or Veggie Lasagna. Meals include strawberry spinach salad, baby red potatoes, green beans with bacon and almonds, dinner roll, yellow cake with strawberries and choice of milk, coffee, and water.
Mocktails are available all evening.

Generation Rx: Safe Medication Practices for Better Health Seminar to be held April 6 at Cresco Public Library

A “Generation Rx” seminar will be held Monday, April 6, 1:30 PM at the Cresco Public Library. Aimed at preventing prescription medication misuse, the seminar is presented by volunteers with Northeast Iowa RSVP and Helping Services for Youth & Families. 

The free hour-long seminar, which is geared to an adult audience, will provide attendees with information about safe storage of medications, proper disposal of unused medications and tips for taking your medications as prescribed.

The Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame's sole purpose is the promotion of amateur wrestling in Iowa. Open to the public, April 13, 2020 is the Banquet & Induction Ceremony at the Cresco Country Club. Call 563.547.3434 to reserve your tickets. 

We have a rich history of honoring native Iowans at our annual awards banquet and induction ceremony.  The original banquet was held in 1970.  When we concluded the 50th annual awards banquet in 2019, our roster of inductees included 129 outstanding individuals for their contributions to amateur wrestling. 

The Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame was established in 1970 to honor native Iowans who have made major contributions to amateur wrestling as an athlete, coach, official or contributor. Inducted members are permanently displayed with picture and profile at the Welcome Center and Chamber of Commerce building in Cresco.

Members of the Hall of fame selection committee are Chairperson Bill Roths, Cedar Falls; Don Gooder, Cresco; Dan Gable, Iowa City; Jim Gibbons, Perry; Chuck Yagla, Waterloo, Kyle Klingman, Waterloo, and Jim Miller, Waverly. Nominations from the wrestling community and fans in Iowa are welcomed by the committee. Nomination forms can be obtained from any of the committee members or online at www.iowawrestlinghalloffame.com .

Todd Stephenson, a Certified NRA Instructor with over 30 years of firearms experience, will be holding a MINNESOTA AND IOWA Concealed Carry class on Saturday, April 25th, 2020 at the Cresco Wildlife Club on the Howard County Fairgrounds in Cresco.  This class is one of the MOST COMPLETE Minnesota and Iowa concealed carry training programs offered.

Pre-registration will begin at 8:30 AM, and class will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.  Class should conclude by between 6:00 and 7:00 PM.  You must be 21 years or older the day of the class to receive a certificate.  Students will be required to qualify using .22LR firearms and ammunition provided by the instructor.  Eye and hearing protection will also be provided.

The fee for this class is $125.00 – you may bring your driver's license and pre-register in person at Outdoors & More, Inc. in Cresco during normal business hours OR you may show up the day of class to register.   Either way, please CALL ME to reserve your seat ASAP.  When your class fee is paid, you will be provided with a one-year Single membership to the Cresco Wildlife Club.  If you are already a member of the Wildlife Club, you will be provided with a one-year single membership extension (upgrades to FAMILY memberships are just an additional $5.00!).
