For anyone wanting to learn America’s Fastest Growing Sport of Pickleball!

Better Choices, Better Health helps adults and caregivers manage the symptoms of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, depression, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and any other physical and mental health conditions. This evidence-based program held weekly for 2 ½ hours for 6 weeks at community-based locations in participating counties and also virtually throughout the state. 

Classes are fun and informal, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confident in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives.

Better Choices, Better Health workshops will not conflict with existing programs or treatments. They are designed to enhance regular treatment and disease-specific education. Many participants have more than one chronic condition. The program is especially helpful for these individuals, as it gives them skills to coordinate all the things needed to manage their health, as well as to help keep them active.

Workshop Topics Include: 

• Techniques to deal with isolation, frustration, fatigue, and pain
• Suitable exercises for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance
• Appropriate use of medications
• How to communicate effectively with family, friends, and health professionals
• Healthy eating and nutrition tips
• How to evaluate treatment options
• Creating action plans 

The Night at the P.A.C. will showcase instrumental and vocal performances from various musical genres, including country, jazz, pop, and show tunes.  This event is free and open to the public.

The Iowa Lakes Handbell Choir will ring in the spring with a Handbell Concert offered on Sunday, April 27 at 4 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 3501 Hill Avenue, Spirit Lake, IA.

The Handbell Choir will be joined by the First Presbyterian Adult and Youth Handbell Choirs.  
Donations will be gratefully accepted to help purchase and maintain handbells and hand chimes.

 

The Spring Concert will share the music of the Iowa Lakes ensembles.

This concert will be at the Janice K. Lund Performing Arts Center on the Estherville Campus and will be free of charge. Everyone is welcome to attend!
