VA S.A.V.E.
6-8PM
The Gathering Place

What is VA S.A.V.E. Training? It is a free, in-person course that will help you act with care and compassion if you come across a Veteran (or anyone) who is in crisis or having thoughts of suicide. The acrononym S.A.V.E. helps you remember the important steps involved in suicide prevention:
S- know the Signs that indicate a Veteran might be thinking about suicide
A - Ask the most important question of all - "Are you thinking of killing yourself?"
V - Validate the Veteran's experience
E - Encourage treatment and Expedite getting help.

Gwen Johnson's words: VA S.A.V.E. is not about one's own mental health but more about how we can watch out for our neighbors and loved ones. This training helps to recognize when someone is struggling and gives concrete ways to assist that person to getting the help that they may need but are afraid to ask for.

Join Voices Raised (K5), our new community youth choir!
REHEARSALS
Wednesdays 2:45 - 3:30PM at The Gathering Place in Greenfield
Starting Wednesday, September 11th

Transportation may be available for Nodaway Valley students via school bus depending on how many students enroll.

PERFORMANCES
Saturday December 7th (Time TBD) - We may perorm a the Holiday Extravaganza Chocolate Affair Luncheon at the Warren Cultural Center

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
This experience is open to all students grades K-5 in the Greenfield area. Homeschool families are welcome, too. Students do not need to have any prior experience, and there will not be an audition.

COST
Thanks to the generous donation Greater Greenfield Community Foundation received from Sue Shepard, there is no cost to register or participate. Each participant will be expected to purchase a uniform shirt ($10-$15) and provide black pants and shoes for the performances.

WHAT IF WE'RE NOT SURE?? CAN MY CHILD TRY BEFORE WE COMMIT?
Yes! At rehearsals in September (11th,18th,25th) students are welcome to come 'try it out'. By September 25th, though, we need to know if you're going to commit this season.

WHAT IF MY CHILD MISSES A REHEARSAL?
Attendance at all rehearsals is important, and we also realize that life, illness, etc. happens! However if your child misses more than 3 rehearsals, (including in September), they will likely not be adequately prepared for the performance, so we will ask them to sit out and re-join us the next semester instead.

WHO CAN I CONTACT IF I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?
The director of this year's choir will be Megan Barrett, from Madison County Music Co. in Winterset. You can contact Megan at MadisonCountyMusicCo@gmail.com/
