American Fork Chamber vs. Point of the Mountain Chamber Lightning Pickleball Tournament
9/25/2020
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Event Description

We are excited to announce our first annual CHAMBER LIGHTNING PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT between the American Fork Chamber of Commerce and the Point of the Mountain Chamber of Commerce on Friday, September 25, 2020. The cost is $40 per team, but Chamber members (members of either the American Fork Chamber of Commerce/Lone Peak Business Alliance or the Point of the Mountain Chamber of Commerce/Saratoga Springs Business Alliance) may use the code CHAMBER to receive a 25% discount. There will be four different tournament times (9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm) and a winner will be declared in each of the four tournaments.

The rules for our Lightning Pickleball Tournament are as follows:
  • Tournaments last exactly 90 minutes
  • Pickleball "ratings numbers" are not required
  • Teams are automatically sorted according to their skill-levels by the up and down movement of winning and losing teams
  • A clear ranking of teams from first-place through twelfth-place will be automatically produced
  • These events are non-eliminating (teams are never eliminated when they lose)
  • Games are not won by reaching the "cap" score but are timed and those games are won only when the 9-minute buzzer rings
  • The team with the most points when the buzzer rings moves up one court while the team with the fewest points moves down a court (the winner on court 1 and the loser on court 12 stay on those courts)
  • Teams do not need to win by two points; these are win-by-one-point events
  • After 90 minutes of this "up and down" moving, there will have been sufficient time for the best teams to migrate to the top courts and the least skillful teams will have had sufficient time to drop to the lower courts
  • The winner will be determined by winning the final match
  • Please remember that this tournament is just for fun and because it is not a "proper" tournament, there is some element of luck involved and the winner is not exclusively determined by skill or match record
