A brief history of Family Promise of Albuquerque:

Family Promise of Albuquerque is a 501 c 3 that works with families who are at risk of homelessness, experiencing homelessness, or recently exiting homelessness. Our goal is to empower families so that they are able to have a network of support that helps them to reach sustainable independence. Family Promise of Albuquerque is one of over 200 affiliates of Family Promise National. Family Promise of Albuquerque began serving families in need of shelter in 2003. At that point, we sheltered 3 families, up to 14 individuals, at a time and provided others with other types of assistance. In 2015, we grew to assisting 4 families. up to 14 individuals at a time. Our shelter program during those times was a rotational schedule where families stayed at one of 20 different congregations throughout the city for a week at a time. When the pandemic hit, we had to completely change our business model and become a static site shelter, meaning we would assist 3-4 families at a time at one site. One of our congregations graciously allowed us to utilize their space, and in the last year we moved to a different space. We are currently awaiting renovations on a building that we purchased during the pandemic. Once renovations are complete, we can shelter up to 30 people at a time doubling the number of people we can serve.
