Creating Age-Friendly Communities: Local, Business & State Perspectives
4/21/2020
7:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Event Description

Mission Statement:  We are community professionals working together to educate, organize, and advocate to improve the quality of life for seniors in our communities.  *Serving communities within the Northeast metro area of Ramsey, Anoka and Washington Counties

OVERVIEW:
“Age-Friendly Communities” is a key component for advocacy of the Consortium of Lake Area Senior Services (CLASS).  This topic dovetails perfectly with the State of Minnesota’s initiative, MN 2030, and Executive Order 19-38 that Governor Tim Walz signed in December 2019 to establish the Governor’s Council on Age-Friendly Minnesota.

The event will gather local businesses, city and government officials and community members to hear about MN 2030, with focus on two key themes of redefining work and retirement and fostering communities for a lifetime.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS & PANEL DISCUSSION:
Reena Shetty, Planning Coordinator with the MN Board on Aging
Don Pollock, Assistant Commissioner for Continuing Care of Older Adults
