ADVISORY WEBINAR: Vaccinations for Employees? What Small Businesses Need to Know and Do Now!
9/30/2021

Vaccinations in the Workplace: Many businesses have mixed emotions and some are confused about the next steps especially at a time when companies are doing their best to cope with staffing shortages. Plus, thousands of businesses in Maricopa County could be affected by President Biden’s plan to fight the spread of COVID-19, either by getting vaccinated or tested weekly. Hear from legal experts on what you should do and carefully consider.

What will YOU do?
  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said it would "carefully review" the vaccination mandate.
  • The National Association of Manufacturers, which represents big and small employers, said it would work to make sure the rules don't hurt business operations.
  • A majority of those opposed questioned the authority the administration has to mandate vaccines.
  • Hear from our two experts on possible options and suggested next steps.

This webinar is intended for businesses of all sizes, human resource professionals, in-house legal counsel, business executives, and community stakeholders.

SPEAKERS

Special Guest: John J. Balitis, Jennings and Strouss

Mr. Balitis counsels private sector clients as well as government agencies, including the Arizona legislature, on a broad range of employment law and labor relations matters. Over his 30 years of practice, he has represented clients in administrative proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), U.S. Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Arizona Civil Rights Division, Arizona Industrial Commission, Arizona Department of Occupational Safety and Health, and the Arizona Department of Economic Security.

Special Guest: Joshua Black, Law Offices of Joshua Black

Joshua regularly represents his clients in both state and federal court and appears in agency proceedings before the US Department of Labor (DOL), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Arizona Attorney General Civil Rights Division (ACRD), the federal Merit System Protection Board (MSPB), and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).  Joshua also makes media appearances related to employment law and has been a guest on FOX10, 3TV/CBS 5, NBC 12, ABC 15, KJZZ, KTAR, and other news stations discussing employee rights.

Meet Your Elected Officials Coffee Hour (NW Valley)
12/7/2021

Meet Your Elected Officials Coffee

In early December, the Chamber of Commerce hosts our annual "Meet the Elected Officials" Coffee, attended by Chamber members including Chamber board members, Government relations committee members, and industry professionals. This is another of many Chamber events where we give a closer and more in-depth opportunity to get to know your elected officials in a casual format.

The Chamber's Legislative Agenda for the following year is also presented.

Our annual meet and greet is an event that the chamber hosts every December that allows for the exchange of views with elected officials on issues facing the business community. It provides participants with an opportunity to develop relationships with individuals who may be in positions to make decisions affecting their companies, employees, and industry.

Convening Community Leaders and Influencers
The Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce periodically convenes community leaders, stakeholders, and business owners to learn or discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the business community.  These forums also provide an opportunity for members to connect with the peers, build networks and deepen their understanding of business topics and issues!
