The goal of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber's Military Affairs Council (MAC) is to advance the pro-business climate in the area through military affairs initiatives, and to maintain and enhance the business community's relationship with Fort Leavenworth.

The Military Affairs Council works to grow and sustain not only Fort Leavenworth, but other Department of Defense operations in the area.  The MAC functions as a liaison between the local military and business communities, implementing programs which provide greater interaction between Chamber members and DOD/military personnel.  The MAC hosts various events throughout the year that help to further our community relationships and honor military service.

MAC Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

Military Affairs Council Meetings are open only to members of the Chamber of Commerce (or representatives thereof) as well as any members of military leadership.

At this seminar we’ll cover:

• What you need to get pre-approved
• Understanding your buying power and monthly payment
• How to start the home search the right way
• Mistakes we see first-time VA buyers make

Feeling lucky?

Mark your calendars and join us on Saturday, March 21st from 3:30PM - 5:30PM at Hamburger Mary's for an unforgettable afternoon of fun, food, drinks, and BINGO hosted by a fabulous queen— all to support some of the sweet senior cats at the Leavenworth County Humane Society who are in need of dental care!

A suggested $10 cash donation gets you 10 bingo cards to play across 10 exciting rounds of bingo. Every dollar raised during this event will be going directly toward the cost of medical care, dental extractions, and pain relief for our group of golden oldies. If we raise an amount above the cost of their care, the funds will be dedicated towards other needs around the shelter.

As cats age, dental disease becomes increasingly common and often incredibly painful. Many of the senior cats in our care require additional dental and medical care, before they can feel comfortable again and begin their search for a home to live out their golden years in!

These procedures are life-changing, but they’re also costly! By attending, you’re not just playing bingo— you’ll be helping to give older cats relief, comfort, and a fresh start in their golden years! We’ll have prizes for our bingo champs, a 50/50 raffle, and entertainment from one of Kansas City’s fiercest drag performers.

We hope to see you there! Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made here: https://bit.ly/3MBMzrs

You are invited to join us at a 3-part series with USD 453. Dr. Kellen Adams will conduct community orientation briefings at the USD office.

Purpose of the Forum Series
The series goal is to foster “clear, fact-based information” and build “shared understanding, not just deliver information.” Participants will hear directly from district leadership and can engage in conversation about the challenges and opportunities ahead. The focus of each is the following:

Forum 1 — Understanding the Landscape
Where We Stand: The Realities Shaping USD 453’s Budget
Forum 2 — Exploring Options and Tradeoffs
Responsible Choices: Aligning Resources with Student Needs
Forum 3 — The Plan and the Path Ahead
Forging the Future: Decisions, Commitments, and Community Partnership

Why This Conversation Matters
The district emphasizes that “strong schools are a cornerstone of economic development and workforce preparation. This is part of workforce development, so business leaders should participate.” As Leavenworth’s education, business, and civic sectors continue to align around long-term community prosperity, these forums offer a space to understand how school decisions affect the broader region. The district notes, “the conversation is not only about challenges—it is about identifying pathways forward.”

Community Participation
USD 453 encourages broad participation, noting that “residents, business leaders, parents, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and help shape the future of education in our community.”

For more information, please get in touch with USD 453 at (913) 684-1550 or the Chamber of Commerce at (913) 682-4112.
